Construction Project Assessment

Identify Problems. Understand the Risks. Build a Path Forward.

Construction projects rarely fail because of one isolated issue. Schedule delays, unresolved RFIs, procurement problems, change orders, budget concerns and communication gaps can compound until project performance begins to deteriorate.

Jenstan CM provides an independent assessment of your construction project to identify critical issues, evaluate project controls and establish practical priorities for moving forward.

Whether your project is already experiencing difficulties or you simply want an experienced second set of eyes, we provide an objective view of where the project stands—and what deserves attention next.

Know Where Your Project Really Stands

When a project begins falling behind, the visible problem isn't always the underlying cause.

Jenstan CM reviews the project from a construction-management perspective, looking beyond individual issues to understand how schedule, cost, procurement, documentation, coordination and decision-making are affecting overall performance.

What We Evaluate

Depending on the project and circumstances, our assessment may include review of:

  • Project schedule and critical milestones
  • Budget and cost exposure
  • Change orders and pending changes
  • RFIs and unresolved design issues
  • Submittals and approval status
  • Procurement and long-lead materials
  • Contractor and subcontractor coordination
  • Pay applications and financial documentation
  • Meeting minutes and communication
  • Permits and inspections
  • Field progress and completion status
  • Punch-list and closeout requirements
  • Project controls and reporting systems
  • Outstanding risks and owner decisions

Project Health Assessment

Jenstan CM's Project Health Assessment provides an independent evaluation of project performance and identifies the issues requiring immediate or strategic attention.

We review available project information, speak with appropriate stakeholders when necessary, evaluate current conditions and organize our findings into clear priorities.

When Should You Consider a Project Assessment?

A Project Assessment may be appropriate when:

  • The project is falling behind schedule
  • Costs or change orders are increasing unexpectedly
  • The owner or GC lacks confidence in current reporting
  • RFIs, submittals or decisions are accumulating
  • Procurement problems threaten upcoming work
  • Communication between stakeholders has deteriorated
  • Project responsibilities have become unclear
  • A PM or superintendent has left the project
  • The project is approaching a critical milestone or TCO
  • You need an independent second opinion
  • You are taking over an existing or troubled project

Not Every Project Assessment Means Something Is Wrong. Owners and contractors may also use a Project Assessment as a proactive project health check before entering a critical phase of construction. Identifying developing risks early can provide more options—and more time—to address them.

From Assessment to Project Recovery

An assessment should result in action—not another report sitting in a folder.

If additional support is needed after the assessment, Jenstan CM can assist with implementing recommended corrective actions through Project Management, Owner's Representation, Preconstruction Support or Project Controls, depending on the project's needs.

Independent Perspective with Practical Construction Experience

Jenstan CM approaches project assessments from the perspective of experienced construction management—not theoretical consulting.

We evaluate how the project is actually being managed, where information or decisions are getting stuck, what risks are developing and which actions can realistically improve performance.

The goal isn't to assign blame. It's to identify what needs attention and establish a practical path forward.
